The
2007 Wild Christ Conference for Men
Was a Huge Success!
Thanks to all who joined us.
So, we gathered and
broke our bottle on the hull of our first ever Wild Christ
Men’s Conference in late June of 2007.
The workshop evolved around an old folktale from Russia
called “The Firebird” and it’s relation
to Numbers 11
from the Biblical text. We sang every morning and all participated
in a wonderful evening ritual together.
The theme seemed to evolve around Ruach (the creative breath
and wind of the Universe) and the raccoons, owls,
fireflies and sun kept asking us to recite this David Whyte
poem entitled Tilicho Lake:
In this high place
it is as simple as this,
leave everything you know behind.
Step toward the cold surface,
say the old prayer of rough love
and open both arms.
Those who come with empty hands
will stare into the lake astonished,
there, in the cold light
reflecting pure snow,
the true shape of your own face.
We hope to see you all again in June of 2008
